Silly rule mars the PGA Championship

The 2010 PGA Championship will never be remembered as the on Martin Kaymer won. It will go down as the Championship that was stolen from Dustin Johnson.

Yes there is sand there, but can you treat a bunker that is trampled for a week the same as one inside the ropes?

Did you expect any less from the Bills?

The Bills looked bad in their preseason debut, really bad. But, is this surprising at all?

The Bills enter this season with a new head coach, a new defensive scheme, a huge question mark at quarterback and a questionable offensive line. A 42-17 loss in the preseason opener is almost to be expected. Giving up 42 points probably isn’t what you want to see though.

Reviewing the first NCAA football poll

The first NCAA football ranking is out for the upcoming season. As expected, Alabama is considered the best team in the nation as we begin the 2010 season. The Tide will simply have to win out in order to secure a berth in the National Title game.

Most of the usual suspects appear in the top ten but there are two new faces in there as well. Boise State is ranked number five and TCU is ranked  seventh to start the year. This puts both teams in a very tough spot entering 2010.

Boise State has a lot of hype to live up to going into the 2010 season.

Rumor has it Corey Pavin will lay the smack down if necessary

You certainly know the guy can’t hammer his drives, but he will hammer Jim Gray if he keeps putting his hand’s in the face of Pavin’s wife.

There is the link.

This all stems from a real news story. The Golf Channel reported that Corey Pavin would give Tiger Woods a captain’s pick for the 2010 Ryder Cup. Pavin claims this report was false and that there are no reserved spots for captain’s picks. Continue reading

Time for Darrelle Revis to wake up

I am perfectly okay with Darelle Revis holding out for the entire season. I would be even more okay with him being traded to the NFC. For now, his holdout will have to do.

However, I don’t understand what he thinks he is accomplishing by staying away from Jets training camp. I got it, he is proving that he is a typical selfish athlete who thinks the parts are greater than the whole.

Darelle Revis. Another athlete who isn’t capable of waiting his turn.

NHL trying to cover their tracks

The NHL has overturned the obnoxiously enormous contract that the New Jersey Devils awarded to Ilya Kovalchuk.

Now the league is looking into every ludicrous deal that was agreed upon over the past couple seasons. Among the players whose deals are being reviewed are; Philadelphia’s Chris Pronger, Vancouver’s Roberto Luongo, Boston’s Marc Savard and Chicago’s Marian Hossa. Here is the TSN story with all the details.

Marian Hossa’s contract with the Chicago Blackhawks is one of many under review by the NHL.

Super Bowl XL becomes tainted

…or perhaps more tainted depending on your point of view.

I am one to promote the conspiracy theory that the NFL is fixed. I am a huge football fan, I love the Bills and I enjoy watching football on Sundays. But, sometimes the circumstances for these Super Bowls are a bit much. Continue reading

The NFL is back

It is officially football season. Of course, the Hall of Fame game is the most boring thing EVER.

Carson Palmer targeted his newest weapon, Terrell Owens numerous times during his short time on the field. T.O. had a pair of catches for 18 yards, his third reception was called back on a Chad Ochocino penalty. The Cowboys ground out the Bengals for a 16-7 win.

Terrell Owens had two catches for 18 yards in his debut with the Bengals.

Spiller in the fold

The Bills have finally agreed to terms with firs-round draft pick C.J. Spiller.

It is about damn time. This is the second year in a row that Buffalo’s first pick has been tardy for training camp.

Buffalo continues to move backwards

In 2013 HSBC’s lease will run out at the HSBC Tower in downtown Buffalo. The corporation is looking at numerous options in and around the city in addition to remaining in the tower.

The tower is the tallest building in the city and dominates the skyline. It isn’t pretty but, its tall and is a valuable commodity to the city. One prospect that seems to be high on the bank’s list is a new build near the existing Atrium building across the street from HSBC Arena.

This choice is apparently contingent upon the city deeding a piece of property on the Webster block to the Erie Canal Development Corporation. They, in turn, would sell/lease/whatever the land to HSBC for the new build. I’m not positive, but I’m pretty sure the parking lot across from the Arena is involved in all of this too.
