There’s still time before Tim Murray really starts talking trade but not too early to discuss what steps the Sabres should take moving forward. Chris and Tyler discuss whether Murray should be looking at options at forward or along the blueline.

Really enjoyed the podcast.
One angle maybe not discussed enough is the league’s perception of Sabres tradeable chips.
For instance, what is Girgensons? If he’s really 2015/16, deal him now. But if you think he’s got more of an offensive game than he’s shown (ala 2014/15), maybe you give him another year to rebuild value.

Girgensons is ultimately probably an asset Murray will want to hold onto for the long haul. Ideally his offensive game comes out in the second half of the season and we all see significant improvement. But if he develops into a solid 3rd center, the Sabres will be in very good shape. You bring up a good point about perceived value. Ennis, Moulson and even Girgensons are all having down years among others, making it hard for Murray to get good value in a trade. It’s definitely something to keep in mind as the deadline approaches. Thanks for listening!
