Rockin’ For Rice – Be there

This evening marks the day of a very special event here in Buffalo. Rockin’ For Rice will kickoff at 6:30 (doors) and showcase four local bands to help benefit the Alix Rice Peace Park Foundation. Tickets are only $20. You can get them on Tickets.com, Phatman or at Town Ballroom. As the information below will show you, there will be plenty of reasons to come out. Hopefully I’ll see you there.

The quest to have a skate park built in memory of Alix Rice takes another major step forward at the Town Ballroom Thursday night.

Buffalo based New Era presents Rockin’ For Rice – a night of music, raffles, and responsibility at one of the city’s premiere concert venues. The October 18th event will feature six local bands:

– Son of the Sun

– Wolf Tickets

– Chosen Ones

– Red Delicious

– Come Honor

– Shout it Out

Doors open at 6:30pm, with musicians taking to the stage from 7pm to midnight. Watch the promo video at http://www.AlixRice.com

All proceeds will go to the Alix Rice Peace Park Foundation, Inc.

This not-for-profit organization was formed in wake of a July 2011 tragedy that claimed the life of Alix Rice, an 18-year-old East Amherst resident.

While riding her longboard home from work, Rice was killed by a drunk driver.

The underlying theme of Rockin’ For Rice is responsible behavior behind the wheel, as Liberty Cab will have a significant on-site presence, and Advantage Limousine has made package deals available for larger groups traveling to and from the show.

Alix Rice Peace Park Foundation President Jon Fulcher organized the first Rockin’ For Rice event in July 2012, a free concert at Bassett Park in Amherst.

“I feel there is still a very large need to give people the opportunity to take part in, as well as support, our ongoing effort to build a permanent memorial, “ Fulcher says, “And it’s inspiring to see people genuinely excited about a positive place for her to be remembered.”

Tickets for New Era’s Rockin’ For Rice are available for $20 (plus service charges where applicable) at the Town Ballroom Box Office, Tickets.com, and Phatman Boardshop in Tonawanda.
